Key benefits

  • May help supplement dietary calcium from a traditionally prepared herbo-mineral source.
  • May help maintain healthy bones and joints.
  • May help support comfortable joint movement where there is stiffness or overuse.
  • May help support the body’s normal repair of bone and connective tissue.

About this formulation

Calcium is needed for the normal functioning of nerves, cells, muscle and bone. When the diet does not supply enough of it, the body draws on the skeleton to keep blood calcium steady, and bone density falls over time. Ayurvedic literature describes a group of plant and mineral ingredients used for centuries to support asthi dhatu, the bone tissue. Calcypan Tablet brings ten of them together in a single 550 mg coated tablet.

The herbs, and why they are here

Kukkutandatvak Bhasma — purified and calcined egg shell, the classical ayurvedic calcium source. It is included for people whose diets do not reliably provide enough calcium, and is traditionally used to support bone strength and normal calcium levels.

Hadsankal (Cissus quadrangularis) — known in Sanskrit as Asthi Samhruta, roughly “that which holds the bones together”. It is used traditionally where bone and connective tissue is repairing itself.

Amalaki (Emblica officinalis) — among the richest natural sources of vitamin C, an antioxidant nutrient associated with normal collagen formation and a settled inflammatory response.

Arjuna (Terminalia arjuna) — used traditionally where tissue is healing and where inflammation needs to be kept in check.

Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) — a classical rasayana, long used as an immunostimulant and studied for antioxidant and hepatoprotective activity.

Shuddha Guggul (Commiphora mukul) — purified gum resin, used in ayurveda for rheumatic complaints and for disorders of joint comfort and metabolism.

Shuddha Laksha (Laccifer lacca) — purified lac, traditionally used as an anti-inflammatory where bone and joint tissue is under strain.

Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) — an adaptogen valued for energy, endurance and resilience under stress, and also used for its mild anti-inflammatory character.

Bala (Sida cordifolia) — the name means strength. Bala appears widely across ayurvedic medicines and oils intended to improve the strength of bones, muscles and joints.

Babul (Acacia arabica) — a decoction of the bark, included for its astringent, tissue-toning action.
