About this formulation

Colostrum is the pre-milk fluid produced by the mammary glands in the first twenty-four to forty-eight hours after birth. It precedes ordinary milk and differs from it substantially: it is the medium through which the mother transfers immune and growth factors to the newborn, and it carries a precise balance of vitamins, minerals and amino acids suited to that purpose.

Colospan Capsule presents bovine colostrum collected in that window and freeze dried, a method chosen because it preserves the heat-sensitive proteins that give colostrum its value. Each capsule contains 400 mg of the powder and is assayed to not less than 20% immunoglobulin G.

What colostrum contributes

Immunoglobulins (IgG) — the antibody fraction is the constituent by which colostrum powder is characterised and assayed, and it is the basis of its traditional use in supporting natural immunity.

Growth factors — colostrum naturally contains the peptide growth factors that direct tissue development in the newborn, and these are associated with the normal repair of muscle, cartilage, skin collagen and nerve tissue.

Bioactive proteins and amino acids — the protein fraction supplies amino acids in a readily usable form, which is why colostrum is used in formulations aimed at lean body mass and recovery after exertion.

Vitamins and minerals — present in the balance found in the natural fluid rather than added, contributing to normal metabolic function.

Because the material is dairy derived, the powder is handled under cold chain from collection through to encapsulation, and each batch is assayed for IgG content before release.

Colospan Capsule is manufactured at our GMP-certified unit and is available for third-party and private-label manufacturing. IgG specification, capsule size, bottle or blister packing and label artwork can be tailored to your requirement. Certificates of analysis are supplied with each consignment.
