About this formulation

In ayurveda, skin complaints of the dermatitis type are read as a pitta problem with a digestive origin. An unsuitable diet and irregular routine disturb digestion, pitta — the fire principle — is aggravated, and it expresses itself through the skin as heat, while toxins settle into the deeper tissues. Management therefore works from the inside out, on the blood and the gut, rather than on the skin alone. Dermopan Tablet is a 500 mg film-coated tablet that combines bitter blood-purifying herbs with two classical mineral preparations along those lines.

The herbs, and why they are here

Shuddha Gandhak (purified sulphur) — the largest single ingredient. Sulphur has a long record in ayurvedic dermatology, where it is credited with blood-purifying action and with helping the body clear accumulated toxins.

Kutki (Picrorhiza kurroa) — a bitter used to support the liver, the blood and the gastrointestinal tract. It is traditionally associated with a clearer complexion and with easing skin inflammation, itching and burning.

Amla (Emblica officinalis) — a rasayana that nourishes the tissues and is understood in ayurveda to relieve excess internal heat, which is why it appears so often in skin formulations.

Neem (Azadirachta indica) — the classical blood purifier of Indian medicine, used to clear toxins from the system and to settle the itchy rashes that accompany dermatitis.

Chirata (Swertia chirata) — a bitter used traditionally to settle inflammation, normalise appetite and support comfortable digestion, which is the digestive half of the picture. It is also anthelmintic and antimicrobial, and is described in classical texts as a skin-friendly herb.

Vavding (Embelia ribes) — used traditionally for worm infestation, and for its antifungal and antibacterial character in a range of skin disorders.

Pitpapado (Fumaria vaillantii) — a blood purifier used traditionally for boils, eczema and psoriasis-type presentations, as well as for acne and constipation.

Ras Manikya — a classical mineral preparation used in ring worm, dry or weeping eczema, scabies, psoriasis and urticaria.

Praval Pishti — coral calcium, included as a cooling ingredient for burning sensations, acidity and calcium deficiency.

Dermopan Tablet is manufactured at our GMP-certified unit and is available for third-party and private-label manufacturing. Pack sizes, blister or bottle packing, and label artwork can be tailored to your requirement. Certificates of analysis are supplied with each consignment.
