About this formulation

Ayurveda regards the health of the heart as inseparable from the state of the digestive tract and the quality of the blood. Residue left by incomplete digestion is understood to travel with the blood and to thicken it, so classical cardiac formulations almost always pair herbs that clear the gut with herbs that work on lipids and circulation. Dilopan Tablet follows that pattern. It is a 500 mg tablet in which a little over half the herbal weight is given to eliminative and blood-cleansing herbs, with Guggul and Haridra added for lipid metabolism.

The herbs, and why they are here

Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) — the largest ingredient at 120 mg. It is used traditionally to support the working of the digestive tract, a healthy intestinal environment and the normal absorption of nutrients. As a mild laxative it is associated with toning of the colon and with regular, unstrained bowel movement.

Daru Haridra (Berberis aristata) — Indian barberry, a berberine-bearing bark used traditionally as a blood purifier and to support normal liver and lipid function.

Indrajav (Holarrhena antidysenterica) — kutaj seed, long used for the intestinal side of the picture, with antidysenteric and antidiarrhoeal properties recorded in classical practice and also used in liver disorders.

Shuddha Guggul (Commiphora mukul) — purified gum resin, and one of the ayurvedic herbs most widely associated with lipid metabolism. It is used traditionally in obesity and related disorders as well as in rheumatic and skin conditions.

Haridra (Curcuma longa) — turmeric, whose curcuminoids are the most widely studied anti-inflammatory and antioxidant constituents in the ayurvedic pharmacopoeia.

Aloe Vera (Aloe barbadensis) — kumari, included as a gentle bitter that supports digestion and elimination and helps the formulation sit comfortably.

Shuddha Sphatik (Alumen) — purified alum, a classical mineral ingredient used in small quantity for its astringent, tissue-toning action.
