About this formulation

The papaya tree is grown across India for its fruit, but it is the leaf that carries the highest concentration of proteolytic enzymes, and it is the leaf that Ayurvedic and folk practice has used for digestion and during convalescence. Papaya Leaf Capsule is a dry extract of Carica papaya leaf, 400 mg per capsule, assayed to not less than 10% papain.

Demand for this product in India is seasonal and driven largely by its traditional use during the monsoon months, so we plan raw material procurement and batch scheduling accordingly.

The leaf, and what it carries

Papain and chymopapain — the two principal proteolytic enzymes of the leaf. They are associated with the digestion of protein, with cleansing of the colon, with regular bowel movement and with a settled stomach lining.

Amylase and protease — a further group of enzymes present in the leaf, which act on carbohydrates, proteins and minerals. Their contribution is less to digestion for its own sake than to how much nutrition the body draws from a given meal.

Antioxidants and micronutrients — the leaf supplies a range of antioxidant compounds and nutrients associated with supporting the immune system, and with the eye and joint health claims made for papaya in traditional practice.

Traditional platelet support — papaya leaf is widely used in India during and after febrile illness for its association with the regeneration of platelets and white blood cells. This is the use for which the leaf is best known domestically.

Papaya Leaf Capsule is manufactured at our GMP-certified unit and is available for third-party and private-label manufacturing. Papain specification, capsule size, count per container, bottle or blister packing and label artwork can be tailored to your requirement. Certificates of analysis are supplied with each consignment.
